With the light in our Grandchildren’s eyes they ask,

How did you two do it?

No matter the distance between us.

We chose to return to each other.

Over and over.

Without effort, our hearts fuse together

beating in a rhythm only we hear and understand.

Growing up and going to powwows down south I always deeply admired how every session there would be an older couple or two wearing matching regalia and taking care of one another. She’d fix his shirt making sure everything was in its place and he would straighten her dress or apron that matched his shirt and they’d sit together and dance intertribals together ♥️

Remembering that, helped with the inspiration of this piece.
